Ag !

I know its not like me is it?

TBH, its a kind of magical thinking or superstition. I think if imagine the worst, it might not happen and invariably doesn't but on the other hand after Mansfield away back in the early 70s, Mannygate, TevezGate, 4 relegations, no trophy in 40 of the 60 years I have followed us, owners that were the only billionaires I have heard of to go bankrupt overnight and just warnings from my Grandad and Dad and others that were convinced we are cursed, I always think the worst.

I suppose its a way of protecting myself. Think the worst and anything else is a bonus.

Underneath it all, I ache for a strong, successful West Ham team and looking forward to every game. That happens now and again (probably 5 - 10 of the 55 - 60 seasons I can remember) and the rest of the time its bleedin agony worrying about relegation and generally underachieving.

Will it ever change? A new stadium, new "big talk" owners but nothing has changed.

Thanks for listening, its therapy for me :-)

No chance we will be relegated.
We will win at two of the remaining fixtures..by hook or by crook''

Agreed.

defeat tonight and Saturday and he's got to go, no excuses, you don't drop an 11 point gap between you and the bottom 3 in a month and expect to stay in your job.

I am pessimistic at the best of times but I simply cannot see us getting a point. Once Obiang, Reid and Antonio got injured the only 3 consistent, strong performers were gone. Antonio will be back which is a bonus and we have to hope he plays out of his skin.

The manager, as nice a bloke as he might be, is fully responsible for what could well be relegation. He cannot or will not prepare or set us up to defend properly. We are a tea bag defensively. Playing lightweight players, who are not fit in a midfield 4 and not demanding that we press all over the park.

I watched a limited technical Burnley team absolutely work their socks off last night. They were pressing the Stoke players at every turn and giving them no time. We are not fit enough or instructed to do that.

Bilic, Sullivan, Gold all vastly overrated our team after a 7th place finish that petered out. We have been trying to take the game to other teams and getting caught on the counter for 2 seasons.

Bilic deserves the sack and the owners better start realising you have to have a long term strategy to improve. We are not an established Premiership team and they are talking about Champs League after one half decent season. Naive , deluded amateurs. The lot of them. The appointment of Dicks ( in more ways than one) sums it all up.

I think we are relegated unless Bilic has an epiphany.

Same old West Ham I have known for most of the 60 years I have been following them.

Happy Easter :-)

If we don't get at least 4 points from the next two we fully deserve to go down

That's all that is required.

Been a shit season...being below the likes of Bournemouth and Watford is indefensible for a club of our stature (apparently )

I don't think you can be called a knicker wetter if by looking at the league it fills you with at least a little bit of concern.
Less than three points from the next two games and we are deep in it!

Saturday's result for me will be as defining as the Bolton one was when we were relegated under Roeder/Brooking as at the end of the season that 3 points will be the difference between being above or below Hull for that 3rd spot.

Looking at our run in I can only see a couple of drawers and Hull will beat Boro, Watford and Sunderland all at home to finish above us.

Re: Burnley and Watford Winning - Oh dear :-(
Everyone that's currently above us will finish the season above us.

Palace are below, yet I am pretty confident they will overtake us before the end of the season.

That leaves 5 teams and 3 relegation spots. Sunderland look doomed, and will finish bottom. That leaves 4 teams and 2 spots.

Boro can't score goals, and look equally doomed. They have 9 games left and are (considering GD) effectively 11 points behind us. I don't think they'll pick up another 11 points, so that's them finishing below us as well.

That leaves Hull, Swansea and us to fight it out for the last remaining relegation spot.

Looking at both those teams remaining fixtures, Hull will pick up somewhere between 9 and 12 points, barring fluke results. That will see them finish on a maximum of 39 points. Swansea will pick up somewhere between 9 and 11 points, which will see them also on a maximum of 39 points.

We currently have 33 points, but a goal difference that can't be caught by either side. It's possible one of the two teams will exceed 39 points by picking up the odd freak result, but not both. I'd therefore be pretty confident that 39 points is the safety mark this season.

Swansea at home is fucking huge. Much bigger that I get the impression the players realise. Win that, and we are 90 minutes away from safety, lose it and we're favourites to go down. Draw it, and we then need to win at Sunderland, and find another another 2 points from Spurs, Everton or Liverpool at home and Stoke or Burnley away. All incredibly tough games.

There no doubt that we're currently 3rd favourites to get the final relegation spot. A LOT has to go against us over the next 6 weeks and despite our frailties I can still see us going to Stoke and grinding out a win, or going to Sunderland and out scoring them in a 2-3 or something.

I don't think we'll go down, but it's a massive fucking wake up call to anyone that thinks we've got a top 7 squad

''A 2-0 win at the Arse could see us back upto 9th''

Unfortunately, I think you need to check your maths there, mate...

Other than checking the maths of that statement, I would also request a full blown psychiatric assessment on it.

No worries, we're at home to Swansea.

Oh...!

Sven Roeder 11:57 Tue Apr 4
Re: Burnley and Watford Winning - Oh dear :-(
My view is that if we lose to Swansea we become the favourites to join Boro and Sunderland.
We are the only team in the DEATH ZONE who currently looks incapable of winning a football match.
